Blackboard Wallpaper – Bright Star Kids

Now I am not going to lie, I was a little apprehensive about this purchase. You see, my kids have never drawn on our walls. I’d like to claim it’s because they are well-behaved, but I have a feeling it’s more to do with the fact they have never been presented with the opportunity. When it comes to colouring, we do it at the table, with someone watching over them. I was a little nervous that introducing a wall that COULD be drawn on might be dangerous, but it is nothing but FUN!

First of all, wallpaper chalkboard – how awesome is that. The minute we opened it, Cassie was all too eager to help me get it out and stick it on the wall. The trick to this one? Keep the chalk under lock and key, that way they only draw when you are watching – plus you get to join in the fun.

Cassie and Vivi ask me if they can draw every day. And most days, it’s a yes. It’s the easiest activity in the world, and the novelty just doesn’t wear off. We have a container of different coloured chalk for it, and find that the smaller ones work better for this. Even if some does get on the wall (accidents happen!), it rubs off so easily.

Of course, this wallpaper doesn’t have to be for the kids. You can set it up in your study for taking notes, or in the kitchen as a planner for what you are up to in the week, or even for the shopping list.

It’s so versatile and you can even restick it somewhere else around the house. If my girls ever tire of it, my plan is to repurpose it for myself in my office, but I have a feeling that isn’t going to happen anytime soon…
