Nettie’s Knits – Kids Beanie
I have loved Nettie’s Knits for a while. My mum loves to knit, and my best friend is a great crocheter, so Reuben is often to be found decked out in gorgeous woollen creations. However, I have a soft spot for cute things – and my mother refuses to add ears, or character features to her knits – she likes to keep them ‘serious’. Reuben being just a little guy, I like to keep him young, and cute, so I sought out cheaper options for still good quality woollen knits. Handmade ‘Spot Sales’ Australia on Facebook allows you to do just that- a whole range of handmaidens selling excess stock from markets, or trying to clear old stock means that you, the shopper, gets a bargain.
I came across Nettie’s Knits on Handmade Spot Sales Australia, and instantly fell in love with her beanies – because she is liberal with her application of pompoms, ears and use of colour, along with her talent for knitting, using some quite complex techniques to create intricate patterns in her knits. She does cardigans, beanies, tea cosies, gloves and a whole range of other items, in sizes newborn through to adult, and is very open to custom items. The appeal to me in this beanie – besides the ears – was that I think Reuben totally rocks dark yellow and mustard colours, and they are hard to find as they don’t suit everyone.
While I am a little addicted to Handmade ‘Spot Sales’ Australia, as I often can be found bagging myself a bargain – perfect for present shopping, I think the thing I like most about it, is it has introduced me to some amazing handmaidens as Lyn from Nettie’s Knits amongst others, and now I have a go to place for gorgeous knits!
