My Family Book
We just adore books in our house. So, perhaps Cassie had no choice but to love books with a mum like me, but I like to think she developed the love all on her own. We have one bookcase set up in her bedroom and a second one out in our living room that is on rotation to keep things nice and fresh for her. We have all the classics: Dear Zoo, The Hungry Caterpillar, Where Is The Green Sheep?, Hairy McLarey, Guess How Much I Love You, We’re Going On A Bear Hunt, and many, many more. But we are always on the lookout for something new, and we found it with My Family Book!
Well, actually a friend found it for us and introduced us to My Family Book. The concept is so sweet and so simple. On each page of the cloth book, another family member’s photo is shown with their name underneath it. It’s a simple recognition book for little ones. You get to upload five photos (I know, it can be hard to choose. So hard that Neen and Gregpa had to share a page together!), and the black and white book is printed and sent out to you.
Ours now lives in the car. There aren’t many ways we have found to distract Cassie on a long car ride, but this one really works. Now she is a bit older, she happily flicks through the pages, chanting out people’s names, and even extending it to people she knows who aren’t in the book. It’s super cute. Some car trips we leave the book tucked away and just chat about the different people in her life. Either way My Family Book has been a great conversation starter and I love watching Cassie recognise all these important people in her life.
